Brett Swick

Following graduation from Purdue in May 1997, I worked in the Sports Information office at Purdue for two years, one year as and intern and one full-time. In June of 1999, I moved out to New Jersey and became an Assistant Sports Information Director at Seton Hall University. Working in college athletics had its perks. I had the opportunity to travel to several places around the country and attend many exciting events. Plus, I was able to meet and work briefly with several radio and television personalities, such as Dick Vitale and Brent Musberger. I was also able to do a little radio work myself, occasionally doing play-by-play of high school and college sports and minor league baseball. Although I enjoyed the experieces of the athletic field, working 80-hours a week from September to May took its toll physically and mentally. I "retired" from the sports industry in June of 2000 and began work as a Sales Executive for a start-up internet company in central New Jersey. Even though I no longer do any work related to radio or television, my experiences at WJEF were, and still are, extremely valuable to me. I encourage all the students in the radio and television classes at Jefferson to make the most of their opportunities there.
