Mike Wilson 1972

It was exciting today to look at the Jeff92 website and how successful the radio and TV center has been over the years. I was in the industrial education co-op program 1971-1972 and worked for the school system’s facilities and grounds dept. Primary duties included maintenance and repair of audio visual equipment for the entire school system the summer of ’71 and my entire senior year. As a part of that position I became involved with the installation of the original equipment at the radio and TV center. I personally wired the audio patch panels console in the main radio studio as well as hundreds of coaxial cables in the TV control room.

In December of 1971 a buss load of students and Bill Fraser went to Chicago to take the FCC third class license exam. At that time an FCC license holder had to do the meter readings and fill out the hourly log book for the transmitter. I was in the group and still have the license hanging on my office wall.

I worked in commercial television at WTTV and WISH in Indianapolis for about five years doing production work. After that a career in electronics engineering, I am currently director of engineering for a systems integration company in Atlanta, GA where I have lived since 1984.

Few people have influenced my life as much as those I had the privilege of knowing at Jeff. Bill Fraser, Steve Speheger, the original Chief Eng., George Price the electronics instructor and many others.
