TV Equipment at the William S. Fraser Radio-TV Center

...

We have two new Hitachi Z4000W studio cameras and use one of our old Hitachi's as a third camera . The two new Hitachi's are equipped with prompter monitors. CAM 3 lacks a prompter, but also serves as a remote production camera for productions in the Jefferson Theater. The other picture shows the opposite end of the studio. Yes, it's big!

This rack in the TV studio contains our wireless mic receivers. We have 6 wireless mics. 4 lapel and 2 handheld.

We utlize two different audio boards in the TV control room. The Mackie board on the right controls all the wireless mics, and the broadcast board on the left runs all other audio and interfaces with the Mackie board.

We use a Videotek Prodigy production switcher for all our studio productions.

This is our Newtek Video Toaster. We use it primarily for integrating digital effects into all productions, for making graphics, and for storing video clips. It includes a 4 disk hard drive array, editing software, graphics software, and runs on the Windows 2000 platform.

Our AVS character generator. It's about 11 years old but still serves us well. We use it primarily for studio production- key graphics and credit rolls. We use the Video Toaster for more elaborate and colorful graphics.

This rack holds our studio camera control units as well as a monitor. Below the monitor is a small Leightronix switcher that allows us to select the video input we wish to view.We have 2 new Hitachi Z4000W cameras and continue to use 1 of our old Hitachis.

These two racks hold a variety of equipment. The rack on the left holds 3 SVHS/DVD recorder machines. These units are used primarily for playing back programming into the school's closed circuit TV system and for dubbing DVD's. The rack on the right holds our two satellite receivers, and a 10 unit VHS dubbing station. The bottom shelf holds our old SVHS camcorders.

This rack holds our Leitch Audio/Video router, our logo insertion unit, one of our TBCs, a DVD player/recorder, and our cable access channel character generator.

This view shows 5 our of Non-Linear editors. We have a total of 9 units- 6 Casablanca/Avio and 3 Applied Magic machines.

This picture shows a wider view of the main control racks. The 5 LCD monitors on top of the rack are for the closed circuit channels and our cable access channel. The VTR's stacked in the middle of the racks and on top of the end rack are for automated playback over LSC-TV, the access channel on Insight Communications cable in Lafayette. Keen observation will reveal a Sony 3/4" U-Matic machine located a the base of a stack of SVHS playback machines. Alas, it no longer works but serves as the "shelf" for the other machines. We are in the process of investigating moving all Channel 5 playbacks to a video server.
