Wes Scott 1997

From 97 until 2003, I continued my work in the field of radio broadcasting in various roles. Graduated from Purdue in Telecommunications in Jan of 2001 I served as on air staff for 95.7 the rocket doing evenings through 01, and then took on the role of asst. Chief Engineer for Artistic Media Partners supporting stations in Bloomington & Lafayette. I also continued to serve as the Engineer and on site producer for the Purdue Radio Network during this time and through 04.  I have since moved into the field of IP videoconferencing.  I worked for 2 years learning the technology at Purdue and then relocated to Chicago to serve as the Lead Global Videoconferencing coordinator for UBS Investment Bank for 2 years.  I have since returned to my home state and now work as the Sr. A/V specialist with a primary focus on our videoconferencing service for Duke Energy based out of Charlotte, NC. Although not focused on video production, a lot of the techniques learned in the Radio-TV program can be incorporated into the videoconferencing field. It’s very unusual that someone with a broadcast background falls into this field as it’s usually those w/ an IT background.  This allows me to bring new ideas to the table that help in developing the service and satisfies the goal of creating a true face to face experience.  Shot composition, lighting, etc are not things usually taken into consideration when new facilities are being built, but in all environments that I have worked in I’ve helped to really develop a standard expectation of how the experience should be.
